A Binding Sweet Jar Spell

Welcome back to the Wayfaring Witch blog! I have been working a binding sweet jar spell for the last 6 months and am SO excited to finally be able to share this working with everyone. There were times I didn't know if I'd get to write this blog post because even after over 10 years in my craft, I still can fall victim to second-guessing myself and my magick. And this is MASSIVE magick! While I used this working to bind myself to my family and the land, you can use it to sweet bind yourself to anything you want....so long as it falls within your personal ethics, values, and morals.

A Love Story

For those that don't know, I met my now husband on Facebook back in 2017. What started as an internet friendship quickly turned into a romantic entanglement that required LOTS of travel international travel. I lived in both the US and Australia from 2018 to 2020. In 2020, I came to Australia in January for what I thought would be a 3 month visit, however, the Gods had other plans. The week before I was supposed to leave on a flight back to the US, the AU government grounded all flights both incoming and outgoing. This event essentially sped up our relationship timeline.

Ya see, I was born with a congenital heart defect. One that, if I were to get COVID, could be really really bad. So when COVID first broke out and was spreading like wildfire, we decided it was better for me not to travel. My specialist here in Perth agreed and wrote a recommendation to immigration that it was too dangerous for me to attempt travel to include with my application for a long stay visitor's visa. We went through that process and it was approved for me to stay until the end of December 2020.

Applying for My Partner Visa

Soon what followed would be an engagement in August. A wedding in November. And then, on December 21st 2020, we applied for our partner visa (spouse/common law spouse). Applying for a partner visa in Australia is a gamble. First and foremost it is the most expensive partner visa in the world (what we paid for it could have bought us a great used car) and you are not guaranteed a grant even if you're married. You have to pass several hurdles including mountains of paperwork, character screenings, and you have to pass a stringent health exam.

As you may have already guessed, I was really anxious for the medical exam. I mean... I've had three open heart surgeries and have to see a specialist once or twice a year. And there was no way I was going to lie about it because A. that is immediate grounds for denial and B. the giant scars and internal wires that show up on my chest x-ray would be like flashing neon sign to signal I have a heart condition. I used glamour and domination magick when I attended my health exam, but that's for another blog.

I knew I would need to harness The Magician from the Tarot and use every resource at my disposal to ensure that my permanent residency visa got approved.

I constructed a sweet jar with the intention of binding myself to my new Australian family (husband, bonus kids, in laws) and the land itself as well as sweetening those involved in the process to see things my way. This was a what I like to call a slow-burn or long-acting spell. And let me tell you IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!

Ingredients

To begin, I chose a medium-small jar and packed it full of everything that represented my intentions. It contained:

My petition

Sand from the land we were living on

A bottlebrush leaf

Australian coins

Vegemite label cutting that says 100% Australian

A pin from the gold coast with a koala on it

Seashells from our local Indian Ocean beach

100% Australian honey

Van Van Oil

Queen Bee Oil

High John Oil

Lodestone Oil

Timing

I chose to activate the spell on the same day we lodged our application. That day was December 21st, the day of the Aussie Summer Solstice and also the day of the Great Conjunction. I consciously chose this day because of it's astrological significance. The Great Conjunction (aka The Star of Bethlehem) of 2020 occurred when Jupiter and Saturn were conjunct in the sign of Aquarius. This represented a time of great change, progress towards long awaited dreams, and accelerated success. I also chose to burn my candles either on Wednesday or Thursday of each week. This is because Wednesday is Wodan's Day and Thursday is Thor's Day in my practice. So on these particular days, I was asking for the help of Odin and Thor. Only twice did I light the candles on a Monday. This was also on purpose as I also called upon Rhiannon for help and her day is Moon Day.

Activation

Upon the first lighting, I sealed the jar with the candle wax from the white tealight I was using. Every week, for 21 weeks I burned a tea light on top of the jar as well as said an incantation. This incantation acknowledged the original stewards of the land we live on, the Noongar people, and asked them to grant permission and welcome me and my ancestors to this land. I introduced myself both practically and magickally to the ancestors of the land and stated that I wished to be bound to my family and this land so long as it was in the highest good for all. I asked that my hear beat with the mountains and love as deep as the oceans, and that my blood flow with the rivers.

Most weeks I used white tealight. However, there were weeks when I also used black chime candles. The last 3 weeks of the spell, I used red chime candles to speed the working along. And being that I only used them for 3 weeks, I'd say it worked as planned.

Divination

Another interesting thing that occurred during this working was the last week that I burned a candle on top of the jar, the wax spilled over and formed a figure. Since my invocation was to the indigenous peoples of Australia and the wax figure resembled a seated shaman on his knees in trance, I took it as a sign that I had been heard and the spell was complete.

Result

My intuition was dead on, and the following Tuesday I received my permanent residency grant letter. That day it felt like a million pounds of pressure was taken off my shoulders. Most people don't know what it's like to wonder if you'll be allowed to live with your spouse. I mean, most people don't get married to live separately. And while I knew deep down it was going to be fine, I had several bouts of anxiety to deal with through the process. I cannot tell you how much energy I poured into that spell. It seemed like every spare ounce I could muster. When it was completed, I felt like I regained half of my life force and a whole new world of possibilities opened up.

No more wondering. No more anxiety. No more waiting, No more plane tickets. Just pure bliss, family, and opportunity.
